Each passenger can bring two pieces of hand luggage The first may have maximum measurements of 55 x 40 x 20 cm, including wheels, pockets, handles, or any other accessory element of your bag.
The second bag can measure a maximum of 35 x 20 x 20cm and it must be possible to store it under the seat in front of you.
On the other hand, in addition to your carry-on baggage you can bring: a jacket or raincoat, an umbrella, a shawl, walkers, crutches, canes or a plastic bag with products purchased at the Duty Free shop in the airport.
Carry-on baggage should weigh a maximum of 10 kg, and you should be able to place it securely in the overhead compartments of the plane cabin by yourself. Smaller objects should be placed under the seat in front of you.
These rules will be very strictly applied. Carry-on baggage will be carefully inspected at the check-in counter and at the gate in order to ensure that it complies with the previously described requirements.
If at the check-in counter your baggage item is determined to be larger than that permitted on the flight, you should check it in to the plane's baggage compartment, which will incur a charge of € 50 per item. If you proceed directly to the gate and at that point your baggage item is determined to be larger than the permitted measurements for the flight, the charge will be € 60 per item.
This charge should be paid on the spot, via a credit card. In the event that you cannot pay this amount, you will be denied boarding.
At the check-in counters there are measuring aids available for you to verify that your baggage complies with the regulations before checking in or boarding. In order to avoid any unpleasant surprises, we recommend that you ensure that it complies with the permitted weights and measurements.
You can bring liquids in your carry-on baggage, as long as they are in containers of a maximum volume of 100 ml and are transported in a hermetically sealed, transparent plastic bag no bigger than 20 x 20 cm. Each passenger can carry a maximum of 1000 ml (e.g. 10 x 100 ml). At the security checkpoint, the plastic bag should be presented separately and it may be required that you pour out any liquids that do not comply with the regulations.
Volotea permits solid foods to be carried on board. However, the country of destination may prohibit certain types of foods from entering the country, and so you are advised to consult the regulations for your destination. There are strict controls and procedures to follow with regard to transporting certain animal-based products (meat, milk and related products) into the European Union and other countries. To make sure that the food item you are intending to transport is permitted, check with the customs department before you fly. You can find further information here.
On flights with a high number of passengers we cannot guarantee that all carry-on baggage can be placed in the cabin. We recommend that you arrive early in order to avoid the possibility that your baggage will be stowed in the baggage compartment. If it is necessary to transfer your hand luggage to the hold of the plane, this service will be provided for free. Hand luggage must be stowed in the closed overhead compartments in the cabin, under the passenger's seat or in another location indicated by the cabin crew. If your luggage causes damage to Volotea or any third parties, you will be held liable for any loss, except when this is due to negligence on the part of Volotea.
